{{#electioninfobox:35}} New Hampshire held a governor (then called president) election on March 13, 1787. The candidates in this election were John Sullivan, John Langdon, Josaih Bartlett, Samuel Livermore, Benjamin Bellows, and a few other minor candidates.
John Langdon, who was defeated by John Sullivan in the previous election, defeated John Sullivan in the popular vote by a margin of 392 votes (4.33%). However, since no candidate received the majority of the vote, the election was sent to the New Hampshire General Court. The court chosen incumbent president John Sullivan despite him having lost the popular vote. Sullivan therefor held Federalist control over the office of the President. Sullivan was sworn in on June 6, 1787.[1]
