This wiki was originally created as a sister project of [https://civicapi.org/about/ civicAPI]. It was created during the process of collecting historic election results as I realized how incredibly scattered all the information was. Often, I found myself having to go through multiple - sometimes dozens - of websites, books, historic documents, etc - sometimes in different languages - just to get the data I needed! And occasionally, when going through sources, I'd discover some of the data was incorrectly entered by other election archivists. So, that's why the wiki was started.
This wiki was originally created as a sister project of civicAPI, itself created during the process of archiving historic and current election results, as the results are often scattered across hundreds of different websites, historic documents, and more. The results themselves were also often difficult to scrape, and sometimes in completely different languages, and occasionally contained errors from other election archivists mistakes.

The Elections Wiki is a project created by Computernewb to establish an encyclopedia and a nonpartisan source of reliable, official results for all current and historic elections across the world - including local elections, national/federal elections, referendums, and more. The encyclopedia was established as an easy way for election analysts, curious citizens, researchers, civic hackers, etc to view and download the data they need.

Where does your data come from?

We try to list sources on each page, but typically, it comes from official results reported and posted by the Secretary of State (or equivalent) of each country/state. (In certain countries, we may rely on state media to provide results, as the data isn't publicly accessible.)

For historic data, we tend to use books, government archives, or newspapers.

Live and historic results, as well as election calls, are brought to you by civicAPI, our sister website.
